Abernethy SWRI

2017 – 18 syllabus

Abernethy SWRI meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month, September to April, in Nethy Bridge Church Hall, Dell Road, usually at 7.30p.m. We are a very friendly, informal group, open to women of all ages and interests. Most meetings start with a short talk, followed by tea and coffee with sandwiches, home-baking and lots of chat. There are also three monthly competitions (non-compulsory) for Flower of the Month, a Home-made article and a Brought-in article for which members can win points, leading to a trophy at the end of the year. And there is always a raffle.

The December meeting is earlier in the month (to avoid being too close to Christmas) and in February we have a meal out to celebrate our birthday. In 2018 we will be 82 years old. In addition, we enjoy a Christmas lunch in early December and a very sociable AGM in May, shared with other members of the Badenoch and Strathspey Group.

Abernethy is part of the Inverness-shire and the Islands Federation and the national Scottish Women’s Institute. Members can, if they wish, attend classes, workshops, rallies and competitions at every level.
