COVID-19 Announcement: In view of ongoing COVID-19 pandemic our committee has decided to cancel dancing until the end of this year.  This will be reviewed in December with the hope we can resume dancing in the New Year.

Take care all and stay safe.

Dancing Competitions

Some of the Game’s youngest competitors will be participating in the Dancing and Highland Dancing competitions. Their skill and lightness of foot is always a pleasure to watch.

Dances originated to celebrate the warlike past of the Highland people. Dances you will see are – the Highland Fling; Reel of Tulloch (which originated near Nethy Bridge) Sword Dance; Seann Truibhas; Highland Laddie; Flora MacDonald’s Fancy; Scottish Lilt; Sailor’s Hornpipe and Irish Jig.

SOBHD rules apply and all dancers must pre-register – see the entry forms. A complimentary ticket for an accompanying adult will be sent with the dancing number.
NB: No entries will be accepted on the field.

Abernethy Highland Games Association

Abernethy Highland Games and Clan Grant Gathering are held on the playing field in the centre of Nethy Bridge on the second Saturday of August. These are one of the oldest traditional games in Scotland. Known as the “Friendly Games” they are renowned for the stirring sound and spectacle of the Massed Pipe Bands, of around 150 musicians.
